Day 3 - Total FLOP!

Today was not a 1950s success. Because we have those little things called bills I had to find a way to find some money. Like so many people in the country these days we're struggling financially. Our pay check (meaning, the husband's as I don't work outside the home) was cut in half by higher insurance premiums and higher taxes. Of course, at the same time, all our bills have gone up. We're not shoppers or spenders, and have lived on as tight of a budget as possible. Regardless, bills are late and Christmas is coming up.

Today, I spent hours posting things I'd made for a craft fair on Etsy and Craigslist, as well as posting some things we no longer use on Craigslist. I also spent hours looking for a job that would work around my very strange schedule. *sigh* Nothing. I'm disheartened to say the least.

In the meantime, I continue writing books and trying to get published. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and seeing my books in bookstores (both online and in brick and mortar) has always been a big dream!

I am a true believer in everything happens for a reason, and God puts us where we're supposed to be. Apparently, writing and taking care of my family is exactly where I'm supposed to be. Today has been emotionally difficult, but I'm going to put a smile on my face and go upstairs to make dinner for my beautiful kids and unbelievably supportive husband. Have a great night, y'all!

  1. Have you tried the school where your kids go? Maybe those hours would help. I know how tough it is. I am disabled and its been rough. Husband retired and because rules changed for NYS Correction overtime is not considered in your pension anymore more than 6% which was a big blow to us. There guys out there with pension total 75K before the new rules went into effect. Now is Ray, along with his other cardiac problems has Afib. Its very common but with a guy who already had two heart attacks and two bypasses and now his knees are going. Hes doing cardiac rehab to strengthen his heart but while on the treadmill one knee gave out and then the other one did. thank God it was going slow. Right now he is hating this part of his life. But besides security work there really isn't anything else he can do. He's would go to school but he's 60 yrs. old and what field of study does he do? He's on blood thinners now so he has to be careful. Its crazy but you do your best. He sold his truck so that is one payment gone and a little off the ins. But that money we were hoping to save is going to medical payments, co-pays and anything else they can charge you for. Bit of advice always get a printout if you have a hospital bill. They over charge and they don't give you back your money if they can help it. But hey its a great life if you don't weaken. Something my Mom always said.

  2. I actually did check into the kids schools, asked about the lunch room, and even looked into driving busses. Unfortunately, I don't have my CDL and they didn't want to wait. And no openings in either school's lunch rooms. Your poor husband!!! I'll keep you both in prayer!
